As we all know, there is a whirlwind of activity at the Federal level. The Texas Legislature is running at 50%.
I did some poking around. Speaker Burrows, as of 8AM February 11, 2025, has not assigned committees yet so the House cannot get to work. No word on when he will be done taking 5 day weekends and get to the Texas people’s business.

Representative Michael Cloud is very active this session. He has been assigned to the House DOGE Subcommittee. If you are on X, you can follow this subcommittee at https://x.com/DOGECommittee. The Subcommittee will have its first hearing on February 12, 2025 at 9am local.
The Texas Legislature was seated on January 14, 2025.
The Senate is moving quickly on the Governor’s Emergency Items having already passed SB2 (School Choice) and has six committee meetings scheduled for this week.
The House has taken two five day weekends, passed a Resolution congratulating Beyonce and played a flag football game.

Tulsi Gabbard for DNI should be up for a confirmation vote tonight or tomorrow morning. Once Tulsi is confirmed, JFK Jr will be up on the Senate Floor for HHS. Kash Patel has another committee hearing later this week and then should be voted out of committee with a Senate Floor vote next week for FBI Director.
