We are blessed in Texas to have a 100% Republican Supreme Court Justices and it needs to stay that way!

The Texas Supreme Court (one Chief Justice and eight Justices) has several functions:

• Court of last resort for civil matters
• Administrative control over the State Bar of Texas
• Sole authority for licensing attorneys in Texas
• Appoints members of the Board of Law Examiners
• Promulgates the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Rules of Appellate Procedure and Texas Rules of Evidence

There are three Justices running for re-election on November 5, 2024 – Justice Jimmy Blacklock (Place 2), Justice John Devine (Place 4) and Justice Jane Bland (Place 6).

Place 2

Justice Jimmy Blacklock (R – incumbent) is running against Judge Dasean Jones (D) who is currently a judge on the 180^th District Court.  Justice Blacklock was appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Abbott on January 2, 2018, to complete the term vacated by Justice Willet who was appointed by President Trump to the US Court of Appeals for the 5^th Circuit.  He ran for election and won in the November 2018 election.

Blacklock received his JD from Yale then clerked on the US Court of Appeals for the 5^th Circuit.  He then worked in private practice until he was appointed by President GW Bush to the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice.  He then worked for then-AG Abbott as the Deputy Attorney General for Legal Counsel and oversaw the Open Records and Opinions Division and was later advanced General Counsel to the AG.  Blacklock then served as Governor Abbott’s General Counsel until his appointment to the Supreme Court.

Justice Blacklock’s legal background and experience make him an excellent choice to remain on the Texas Supreme Court.

Place 4

Justice John Devine (R – incumbent) has been on the Texas Supreme Court since he was elected in the November 2012 election.  This November, he is running for re-election against Judge Christine Weems (D) and Matthew Sercely (L).  Judge Weems currently serves as a district judge for the 281^st District Court.  Mr. Sercely is a personal injury attorney working in private practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since graduating with a JD from Ava Maria School of Law.

Devine was a judge with the 190^th District Court prior to being elected to the Supreme Court.  Justice Devine received his JD from the South Texas College of Law and is endorsed by Grassroots America, LTGOV Dan Patrick, AG Paxton and many others.

Justice Devine’s track record as a conservative Supreme Court Justice speaks highly in support of his re-election to the Texas Supreme Court.

Place 6

Justice Jane Bland (R – incumbent) is running for re-election against Justice Bonnie Lee Goldstein (D) and David Roberson (L).  Justice Goldstein is currently serving on the 5^th District Court of Appeals.  David Roberson received hi JD from South Texas College of Law in 2010 at Prime Tax Group assisting clients in receiving government-sponsored tax incentives.

Bland was first appointed by GOV Abbott to fill a vacancy then was elected in 2020 for the completion of the term.  The Justice was appointed by Governor Perry to the 1^st Court of Appeals where she served for 15 years.  She received her JD from the University of Texas School of Law.

Justice Bland has a long history of literal interpretation of the law and is highly deserving of continued service on the Texas Supreme Court.

With the current judicial environment in many states, we must keep our Supreme Court conservative.  judicial activism is not wanted in the Great State of Texas!
